Collage Carrier of Strangers monoprint - 20 x 25 cm. 2023 - ongoing

carrier of strangers

A name derived from the Xenophora shell, which is Greek for carrier of strangers. The shell that collects shells. Not randomly though, Xenophora carefully selects its sea treasures based on shape, color, and size. Then places them with equal precision on her own little spiral house. Considering how little do we know about the undersea kingdom, it’s a joy too known there is a sea creature deep down at sea gathering shells and stacking them like a piece of art. Here I have found a connection with the mysterious underwater world! Where I collect my shells from old encyclopedias, then also stack them on top of each other. Puzzled together in ways they form a wild waterway for water. As these shell collages are exploratory designs for the fountain to blue well. Imagine a stream of water flowing through them.
Choosing shells for sure, for their timeless beauty and their everlasting connection with the ocean. The ocean so kindly washes the shell treasures ashore. Truly a gift from another dimension.

fountain to blue well

Shells instantly allow our thoughts to drift to the ocean. From wherever, even from afar.
The same is true for water.
As soon as she touches the shapes of shells, she remembers. From once, when she was a drop in the wild ocean,
part of the largest body of water on earth, the greatest unity, most free and full of life.
While she may once flow through the veins of a bear,
stream down a mountain, watering the roots of plants, tomorrow she could be a cloud, or tear down your cheek,
she finds her way back to the ocean every time.
She remembers, even now captured by humans, brought to a standstill and therefore fallen into a deep sleep.
The fountain is here to wake up the sleepy water, to restore her vitality witch got lost in the pipes. Get her moving. Just like in nature. Following the principles of watergenius Victor Schauberger: ‘Comprehend and copy nature’. Water flowing through the fountain To blue well where she can swirl, twist and wave how she wants to. Made of local clay, to mimic a riverbed. Water passing through is collecting minerals and electrolytes from the fertile soil to enrich her essence.
Water loves to form spirals, they will make her vital again. Shell vessels are an ideal form to spiral in, some literally being a spiral. Vortexes bring extra oxygen into water, utilized by water to structure into a crystalline liquid. Traveling down the fountain like taking a wild water slide must be a joy for water too. Making happy water. Now she is living water, with a harmonious frequency she is happy to share. Tiny droplets spreading into the air reaching everyone in her surroundings, bringing a wave of calm and happiness.
You've been given a blue mind.

‘If God was something, is not crazy to think It’s water. Without water, there would be no life, therefore it could be called the spark of life as well. What would happen if you saw water not as something you drink, but as  drops of life? Would your relationship with water change?’

cup of overflow

May the Cup of Overflow be the vessel for your best water and overflow you with all her goodness.

‘The stream doesn't have to be ours; the water doesn't have to be ours. The anonymous water knows all my secrets. And the same memory issues from every spring.’

the sun can wave

Honoring water is an ancient tradition, something we have forgotten in the West. Water undoubtedly misses us, and we miss water: living water. Wild, free water from nature that bubbles with life. Always in motion—swirling, turning, and undulating as it flows through the landscape. Flowing water is the focus of the work The Sun Can Wave. Filmed up close from a butterfly perspective, the camera shows only what comes to the surface and into the light. Here, the underworld and the upper world merge into a constantly changing kaleidoscopic pattern: an Opus Natura, in which nature itself creates the work of art. And where the camera shows what no human eye can see, a two-dimensional image. No depth. Bottom, sky and water became one.
These images deserve an organic frame. After all, water does not like straight lines; you don't find them in nature either. The traditional rectangular photo frame would not do justice to the water. Oval shapes were created for a more natural look. In these ceramic ponds, the water can dance in the light. Water seen as the liquid light she is.

‘Our entire planetary history has been preserved inside the one thing on Earth that can never be destroyed… water. Our written records date back only a few thousand years, but water has observed everything on this planet since its inception. Water is the ultimate storehouse of information on this planet and beyond.’
